Converting a PDF to an Editable Word Document

Admit it, you've been there before. We all have. We have a PDF document that someone sent us (or even that we created in years past) that we absolutely must have in a format that we can make changes to. I had a project that I worked on many year ago where this was the case, and the most economical way to resolve the issue was to manually re-type the document. Fortunately, it was only 11 pages long, but yikes!

Sure, you can buy expensive software to do this conversion, but why?? Here's a better solution: www.pdftoword.com

As the name implies, this 100% free website will convert your PDF document into an editable Word format (do't let that last part confuse you... you can also open and edit these documents in Apple's Pages app as well).

Here's how it works:

  1. Navigate to www.pdftoword.com
  2. Click on the "Choose File" button to select your PDF file
  3. Enter your email address and captha phrase

That's it! The typical conversion time is less than a minute. At that point, you will receive an email from PDFtoWord containing your .doc file. In most cases, it's a flawless conversion. However, the more formatting, tables and graphs that your document contains, the greater the risk of error.

I love simple solutions to (relatively) complex situations.
